Launching the BIB Year Planting Primroses with the Parks Trust Youth Rangers

April 28, 2017

An enthusiastic bunch of Parks Trust Youth Rangers helped Stony Stratford in Bloom (SSIB) volunteers to plant 150 primroses and 150 cowslips in National Gardening week, celebrating the launch of the Britain in Bloom year.  They were planted in the little wild-life area that Mary Robinson, Robin Nichol and Ron Cox created and maintain at the North end of Stony Stratford High St. Recently SSIB volunteers gained a £5,000 grant from the National Grid to have a path with railings built down to the pond, so local pupils can visit and explore the wildlife site more easily. This year’s RHS theme is ‘Greening Grey Britain for Wildlife’, and that’s just what we did on April 13th at this event! (It was also Ron’s birthday, so we had birthday cake to celebrate at our coffee break!)
